SBS Special Boat Service Role
Although the Special Boat Service plays many roles in its wide range of responsibilities, the main focus of the unit is on the waterborne area. These areas of expertise include but are not limited to:
● Coastal reconnaissance
● Covert beach investigation by Hydrographic survey
● Covert assault route preparation in advance of amphibious assault
● Recovery or protection of ships and oil installations subject to hostile action
● Maritime Counter-Terrorism
● Support to Police and Customs Officials
● Reconnaissance and target indication in deep battle space
● Assault on verified targets
● Personal protection of VIP individuals
